This policy explains what information Spooky Nights collects through this website, our email newsletter, and our paid membership, and how we use it.
What we collect
- Email signup: your email address and, if you give it, your name. Signups run through Substack, which has its own privacy policy.
- Membership: your name, email, and membership and billing status. When paid membership opens, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe’s privacy policy covers what it collects.
- Messages you send us: whatever you include when you email us or post in member spaces.
- Technical data: our website host may automatically log basic data such as IP address, browser and pages visited, to keep the site running and secure.
What we don’t do
- This website does not use advertising pixels or analytics trackers.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Embedded content
Some pages show YouTube videos from our channel. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (Google) may collect data under its own privacy policy. Links to our X account (@TheSpookyNights) take you to X, which has its own policy.
How we use your information
We use it to send the newsletter and stories you signed up for, run your membership and billing, answer your messages, keep the site secure, and meet legal duties.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that run Spooky Nights for us, such as Substack, Stripe, our website host and our email provider, and only so they can provide those services. We also share it when the law requires.
Your choices
- Email: unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link at the bottom of the email.
- Membership: cancel any time as described in our Terms of Use.
- Access, correction or deletion: email spookynightscircle@gmail.com. We’ll respond within 30 days. We may keep some records, such as payment records, when the law requires it.
- California, Colorado, Virginia and other state residents: if your state gives you privacy rights, you can use them by emailing us. We won’t treat you differently for asking.
Children
Spooky Nights is for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you’re subscribed or a member, and afterward only as long as needed for records the law requires.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, but no website or email system is completely secure.
Changes
If we update this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. For material changes, we’ll also email subscribers.
